Digital signal is a power line with only two valid values for a voltage. Common notations are ON (or 1) and OFF (or 0). If V+ is ON, and V- is OFF, then V0 is not valid and we know that something is wrong.

Analog signal is a power line with all values from a valid range. All values out of range are not valid and we know that something is wrong.
